About Assoc Prof John Kramer.
A/Prof John Kramer started in General Practice in Woolgoolga in 1981 as a Solo GP. Since then his practice, as well as the town, has undergone significant growth and development. Now heading up a team of 8 doctors, he can afford to ease up the pace a little, whilst continuing to serve the needs of a wide range of patients.
In some cases he has cared for four generations within the one family. What a privilege and a pleasure! Teaching of Medical Students and Trainee GP’s has been an integral part of the practice from the early 1990’s. it’s very common for patients to ask when he’s alone on a particular day, “Where’s your Medical Student?” Since 2002 he has also taught at the UNSW Rural Medical School in Coffs Harbour.
That long involvement led to the honour of being created an Adjunct Associate Professor in 2016. Nowadays his main clinical interests are Learning and Behavioural Difficulties in Children, Medical Education, Indigenous Health and Palliative Care. He has no plans to retire, but would like to do a bit less, whilst continuing to support and guide the next generation
