About Dr Ashlea Broomfield.
Dr Ashlea Broomfield returns to us here at Beach Street Family Practice with a passion for contributing to her local community and doing her bit for planetary health and its impact on human health by being able to ride or walk to work!
Ashlea is a familiar face around town, seen mostly with her dog Argo and sipping piccolos at Riviera, she can also be spotted learning to surf or accumulating bruises on the mountain bike trails. You might even recognise her from her time spent at Beach St during her medical studies and Specialist GP Training.
Dr Broomfield has now been a Specialist GP (FRACGP) since 2016. She has a zest for learning and has also completed a Professional Diploma of Medical Nutrition Management, a Diploma in Child Health, received accreditation in Neuroprotective Developmental Care, and is currently completing a Masters of Medicine in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Psychosexual Therapy). Dr Broomfield also has extra skills and qualifications in Mental Health and is accredited to deliver psychological therapy and skills training under Mental Health Care Plans.
Dr Broomfield recognises the interaction between mind, body, community and culture on health and wellbeing. She has a particular interest in working with women and is experienced in working with complex conditions including eating disorders, hormonal or menstrual issues, chronic pain, pelvic pain, autoimmune conditions, menopausal transitions, breastfeeding and infant sleep/cry and fuss concerns and chronic mental health conditions. Her consultations are underpinned by a belief in patient centered, evidence based, trauma informed, body inclusive care.
